Odds to Win the Travelers Championship

Jordan Spieth of the United States celebrates with caddie Michael Greller after chipping in for birdie from a bunker on the 18th green to win the Travelers Championship in a playoff against Daniel Berger of the United States (not pictured) at TPC River Highlands on June 25, 2017 in Cromwell, Connecticut.

On the heels of a thrilling week at the U.S. Open in Shinnecock Hills, Cromwell, Connecticut is the setting for the next edition of PGA Tour action when the Travelers Championship gets underway on June 21 at TPC at River Highlands.

Eight of the top 15 players in the world rankings will be teeing it up at the Travelers.

Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy are the +1200 co-favorites, with Jordan Spieth (+1400), back-to-back U.S. Open champion Brooks Koepka (+1600), Patrick Reed (+1600), Jason Day (+1600), Paul Casey (+2000), Webb Simpson (+2000), Marc Leishman (+2500) and Bryson DeChambeau (+2500) making up the rest of the top 10.

In total, eight of the top 15 players and 13 of the top 30 in the world rankings will be in attendance for the Travelers this weekend. Fifty players who teed it up at Shinnecock Hills are slated to play at the Travelers. U.S. Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk is set to return to the track where he carded the first 58 in PGA Tour history two years ago. Furyk is +15000 to collect his 18th career tour victory.

Spieth’s game hasn’t been where we’re accustomed to seeing it in 2018, but River Highlands will rekindle some good memories for the Texan. In his first visit to the event a year ago, Spieth holed a bunker shot on the first hole of a playoff to beat Daniel Berger, which resulted in an emphatic shoulder bump with his caddie Michael Greller. With the triumph, Spieth became only the second golfer since the Second World War to win 10 times on the PGA Tour before his 24th birthday, joining Tiger Woods in that regard. Only Phil Mickelson has won the Travelers Championship two years in a row.

Short-term memory is key for some of the world’s best

Spieth, McIlroy and Day will be looking to wipe the slate clean after a disastrous two days at Shinnecock Hills. All three men missed the cut, as Spieth failed to see the weekend due to a bogey-bogey finish on Friday, while McIlroy (80) and Day (79) posted bloated scores on Thursday and weren’t able to recover as a result.

The course, a 6,841-yard par 70, is set to host a tour event for the 35th year. River Highlands is best known for its stretch from hole Nos. 15-17 which are centered around a four-acre lake. Furyk’s 58 is the obvious 18-hole record at the track, while Kenny Perry owns the 72-hole record (258) from the 2009 edition of the tournament.
