Wells Fargo Championship Odds & Betting Preview

Chris Stroud of the United States plays a shot from a bunker on the 18th hole during the final round of the 2017 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club on August 13, 2017 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

A strong field is set to descend upon Quail Hollow Golf Club this weekend when the 2018 edition of the Wells Fargo Championship kicks off in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Wells Fargo returns to Quail Hollow after a one-year hiatus due to the PGA Championship.

Rory McIlroy is the +750 favorite at Bovada, with Justin Thomas (+900), Rickie Fowler (+1200), Jason Day (+2000), Patrick Reed (+2200), Hideki Matsuyama (+2500), Phil Mickelson (+2500), Paul Casey (+2800), Tiger Woods (+2800) and Tommy Fleetwood (+3000) comprising the rest of the top 10.

Fourteen of the top 25 players in the world rankings will be teeing it up at the Wells Fargo Championship. Woods is making his first visit to the tournament since 2012 and is coming off a T-32 showing at the Masters. The event marks Woods’ seventh start of 2018, and the legendary golfer will be looking to get back into form ahead of the U.S. Open in mid-June.

Thomas knows how to tame the tough Quail Hollow

Reigning champion Brian Harman is back to defend his title, and the American is +6600 to go back to back in North Carolina. Harman, who collected his second PGA Tour victory here a year ago, edged Dustin Johnson and Pat Perez by a single stroke. It’s worth noting that the 2017 Wells Fargo Championship was played at Eagle Point Golf Club. Thomas won the 2017 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow thanks to five birdies in his final 12 holes, so expecting Thomas to regain his momentum at the track is a safe bet.

The course, a 7,554-yard par 71, is back in its usual spring spot after a one-year hiatus due to the PGA Championship. Quail Hollow is incredibly challenging, getting named as the toughest course in 2017 – more than a half-shot tougher than the renowned Augusta National. In fact, only one man - 2011 champion Lucas Glover - has ever posted all four rounds in the 60s at the course.
