What is the Premier League Consensus?

When you visit our Consensus page you can see the data that forms the consensus pick. In order to understand how to use that data, read on and we’ll explain why it’s important and how you can use this information to your advantage.

So, what exactly is the consensus pick? The consensus pick is the percentage that the general betting public is placing on each side of a fixture. The consensus data that we provide you with here is gathered across different sportsbooks and represents the monetary amount placed on a side. You can choose to bet with or against the consensus. When you bet against the consensus, you are doing what is known as “fading” the public. There is no right or wrong way to use this consensus data. Whether you decide to bet with the public or fade it, you should look at the consensus numbers we have here at OddsShark because it will help shape your wager.

With our Premier League consensus percentages, you can see how the rest of the public is betting and decide if you agree. Some bettors prefer to bet with the consensus because they like to have others on their side when making their wager. Equally, some bettors constantly fade the public because they feel the knowledge they possess of both clubs in a matchup is superior than that of the average bettor.

When using this page for your Premier League bet, there are two things to note:

1.    The data compiled doesn’t take into account the number of people who are betting a draw (tie) and only reflects those who are picking one club or the other.

2.    Closer to the match, the consensus data will change as public opinion shifts. But, if you look to our Premier League Consensus page as new data becomes available, you should be able to determine if you should bet with the public or fade them.

Read our breakdown of betting against the public and become the best Premier League bettor you can be.
